Pray for my friend Robert and others...

Hi Everybody,
Tina and I have a good friend Robert (or Rob, or Robby) that we have known since he was 10. He is now 17, about to turn 18 next week. He was diagnosed with Sarcoma, a type of cancer last week. It looks like it is in his leg and in his lungs. I would appreciate your prayers for our friend. He has a hard road ahead of him. Pray for his family too, please.
Also remember in prayer Merlin, a 15 year old from Idaho, a relative of a church member, that has been battling cancer for a while now. We need to pray for continued strength and health for his body.
In Christ,
Pastor Corey

Leading Edge Training for Pastor Corey

I went to Leadership Training Nov. 14-18 at Ross Point Camp. The training was developed by the American Baptists of the Northwest. It was excellent training. Topics included how to develop leaders, how to implement vision in a healthy way, how to communicate clearly and deal with confrontation in a healthy manner. There were various other topics. The classes are led by pastors with real life/ministry experience.

The picture shows one of the many learning activities we did. This was the construction of a mobile, which taught us about the challenge of building, maintaining and growing a ministry.

There was worship every evening- it was very good to simply be a worshiper and not be leading worship. I did lead devotions one morning. This was a humble experience. I can't remember speaking with pastors/leaders as my audience.

I appreciate the church's financial support of this training. The tuition came out of my continuing education allotment.

Sunday Nov. 13th- Yeah God!

Hi there. We had a wonderful time of worship again in Palouse this Sunday. Our first song was "Trust in the Lord" and it was led by our youth- they did a great job. We also worshiped with the song "Sing Hallelujah to the Lord," it is a beautiful song, and from where I stood it sounded very sweet. I pray it sounded even more sweet in the ear of our Lord.
Our give and take (a bible study inside of our worship service) was on 1 Thessalonians 5:9, a very beautiful verse. Look it up- memorize it- I did this week, it was really a verse God layed heavy on my heart.
Our Children's sermon was based on Matthew 25:14-30, I specifically focused on the guy who buried his talent. I told a story about myself as a youth. With my neighborhood friends we buried some money we made, we all then went on vacation- forgetting our money for a time and when we rememberred- we had forgotten where we buried it.
The sermon was from 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, you can see it at: http://coreysermons.blogspot.com/
This website has my notes, which I warn you are not what I actually preach, but they are definitely related.
The worship attendance was 67. The Lord is working. I pray we are obedient to His leading.
Thanks for visiting.

Harvest Sunday was Awesome- Thanks God!

Thanks be to God! We had a wonderful time of worship and fellowship on Sunday November 6th. There were at least 75 folks in worship (well above our average- and none of them were Tina's or my out of town family), and we fed just about that many in the dinner afterwards. The Mayor of Palouse, Michael Echanove and myself, honored Don Myott for his service to our community- he was the winner of our first annual Harvest of Community Award.
The Diaconate did a great job of planning this event. Everyone brought excellent food- it was a good time had by all- in Jesus' name.
Cathy Blood brought family pictures to share after folks were done eating dinner. This is a new thing we are doing in fellowship times, to get to know each other. Tina will be bringing pictures next week and then somebody else the next week, and so on and so forth. It is important to get to know each other.
Bob West also had a great collection of Palouse historical pictures. This was interesting to me. Especially the pictures of some of the churches I hadn't seen before. He is a marvelous historian.
Peace,
Pastor Corey

Harvest of Community Award

The church will award its first ever "Harvest of Community Award" at the annual Harvest Dinner. The award was created by the deacons to honor a non-church member who is an active community servant in Palouse. The recipient was Don Myott. Don is a hard-working city employee. He is known for doing all kinds of good things around Palouse, and never takes any credit. He supports local activities and volunteers to be part of many of them. Don will receive a certificate and a surprise gift.
Come back to the blog to see pictures and an update on our harvest dinner. It is Sunday, November 6th.
